.KEY MESSAGES...

1. Steady triple digit high temperatures are expected through at
least Thursday in the Valley and Desert. A possible cooling
trend is being model indicated by Friday and next weekend.

2. Dryness is expected to continue through the next week with
steady minimum RH`s in the 15 to 25 percent range in the Valley
and in the single digits for the Desert. Light winds will keep
fire risk low.

&&

.DISCUSSION...
Broad high pressure continues to dominate the region today,
with high temperatures reaching a few degrees above triple
digits in the Valley. As we move into the work week, a weak
trough is expected to form offshore in the Pacific Ocean. This
trough is expected to slowly move onshore in the next several
days, causing a gradual cooling for the region as marine air
becomes slightly more prevalent in the Valley. Triple digits
will slowly become less widespread until Friday, where the upper
90`s dominates and triple digits are not likely. These highs
are likely to remain steady through next weekend.

Minimum relative humidities continue to be fairly dry in the
Valley with values in the 15 to 25 percent range, and the desert
seeing single digits. Though the Valley may see a slight
increase in RH`s by Friday as temperatures in the afternoons
cool, with values mainly in the northern Valley in the upper
20`s and approaching 30%. This trough may also lead to slightly
stronger winds along the desert slopes, though with the limited
energy the trough has, the current wind gusts along the slopes
remain below Wind Advisory criteria.
